E, F, G, notes on E String

You are ready to start making melodies (these are sometimes called solos in rock guitar). Check out the video below which shows you how to play E, F and G on the first string of the guitar. Now apply your knowledge to the song "A Tisket a Tasket" found in your parents e-mail box or available as a link below for you to print. Enjoy!

Palm muting technique

Here's a short video on palm muting. Your assignment for Wednesday and Thursday is the Palm Mute Blues! The video example shows you how to play open. Then it shows you what it sounds like if your palm is too high on the strings. Then it shows you exactly where to place the palm of your hand on the guitar to get the right "muted" sound. Happy strumming. Nathan.

A5 and D5 power chord review

Be sure to master the A5 and D5 chords before adding the E5. Once you can easily change between all three power chords and have mastered example 14 on page 4 of your syllabus then move on to page 5 and practice example 23. Notice the rythm of the example is Ta--ti-ti. Ta--ti-ti. Keep a steady beat! If you need an online metronome click the metronome link in the side bar of this blog. Try to play example 14 and 23 at 112 beats per minute.

If you have questions please leave a comment on this blog or write me an e-mail. Happy strumming! I'll see you next week in class. ~Mr. Conant.
